Prior to serving as the recruiting assistant, Robert K. Reid was The Director of Athletic Bands at Mercyhurst University from January 2014 through November 2020 As the Director, Bob improved the program over the course of 6 years to bring in the largest roster in school history. Bob led the program to new heights each year and continues his efforts in recruiting the best quality student. A native of northeast Pennsylvania, he spent 34 years as a music educator in the Wattsburg Area School District. Under his direction, the Seneca High School Band was the seven-time Class AA undefeated champions of The Lakeshore Marching Band Association.
In demand as a contestant adjudicator and guest director, Reid currently is a member of the Allegheny Judging Association, Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges and the New York State Federation of Contest Judges.
Reid's professional associations include Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, CBDNA, Phi MU Alpha Sinfonia and Phi Beta Mu-International Bandmasters Fraternity.
Reid is a graduate of Susquehanna University and has done graduate work at East Stroudsburg University, Edinboro University and Marywood University. He lists as his teachers and mentors: James B. Steffy, Cyril Stretansky, Dr. William D. Revelli and Lawrence Cooper.
