• Members are required to wear masks at all times, in accordance with state guidelines. You must have a mask on to enter the Rec Center and keep it on while exercising.
• Do not enter the building if you have a runny nose, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fever, muscle aches, headache, subjective fevers, diarrhea, nausea, sudden loss of taste/smell. If you have any of the symptoms listed, please contact the Cohen Student Health Center.
• Members and staff must follow all directional signage to create a safe environment for all. Be aware of one-way entry and one-way exit in all exercise facilities on campus.
• Employees will monitor fitness areas to ensure equipment is cleaned and assist in cleaning touch points and equipment after each use.
• Hand sanitation stations and wipes are placed throughout the facility.
• Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds following CDC guidelines.
• There will be no equipment checkout at the front desk or towel service.
• No drinking from water fountains.
• Members must bring their own exercise mat, water bottle, and sweat towel.
• No locker rooms or showers will be available.
• When checking in, you will be assigned a cubicle by Rec Center staff to store your personal belongings.
• A disinfectant spray bottle will be provided in your assigned cubicle. Members are required to spray down equipment before and after each use. Return the spray bottle to your assigned cubicle at the end of your exercise session.
• Only water bottles and cell phones (for music) are allowed on the fitness floor.
• Cell phone use is limited to listening to music. No texting, talking, or touching your phone in the exercise rooms. Your cell phone must be in a bag or exercise phone holder at all times. Emergency cell phone use is only allowed in the hallways and the lobby.
• Practice safe social distancing, staying at least 10 feet apart in exercise areas and at least 6 feet apart in all other areas. To promote social distancing, some machines may be closed and marked with a sign. (Do not remove the signs.)
• Staff will monitor and limit room capacity to promote physical distancing.
• No sharing equipment, or “working in,” is permitted. Socializing while exercising is strongly discouraged and may result in forfeiture of exercise time.
• Spotting is allowed.
• Guest passes will not be sold and non-Mercyhurst students will not be allowed to enter.
• Please be mindful of your workout time. We have many members who’d like to exercise and relieve stress in the Rec Center!
