KENT, OHIO – The Mercyhurst wrestling team closed out the 2025 portion of the season Saturday at the Kent State Open. Seven different Lakers competed across six weight classes.

Marcus Colson competed at 141 lbs. Colson dropped his round of 16 match before dropping his consolation bout 10-1 to Bellarmine's Travis Long.

Colin Scherer entered in the 149 lbs bracket. Scherer fell in his opening match o Silas Stits of Kent State. He also fell in his consolation match, dropping out of the bracket.

At 157 lbs,
Chris Cibrone represented the Lakers. Cibrone fell 22-4 in his opening bout before dropping his consolation match 15-0.

Keith Mincin and
Brady Fitz competed in the 165 lbs bracket. Mincin and Fitz fell in their opening matches. Minicin kept it close in his consolation match but fell to Edinboro's Alaa Aly 5-1.

Jake Leclerc dropped both of his matches in the 184 bracket while
Joshua Johnson-Cantrell fell in straight matches at 197 lbs.

The Lakers are back in action at the Bobby Kauffman Open hosted by Edinboro Jan. 4.
