WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst wrestling team competed at the Black Knight Open hosted by Army Sunday. Seven Lakers competed across six weight classes.

Keith Minicin fell in a tightly contested match to open competition in the 165 bracket, 4-2. Mincin bounced back with a 6-5 victory over Binghamton's Timur Beksultan, earning the win on a riding time point. The sophomore eventually fell in the consolation round of four.

Marcus Colson got a bye in the opening round but dropped to the consolation bracket in his first match, falling to Binghamton's Ryan Hartung. Colson dropped his consolation match, 16-1.

Colin Scherer dropped consecutive matches at 149 lbs. In his consolation match, the sophomore fell 4-2 to Brown's Abe Pomroy.

Maxx Fesinger was bested in back-to-back matches.

Gino Guerrisi and Joey Barronick both competed at 285 for the Lakers. Both fell of of the bracket, dropping consecutive matches.

The Lakers are back in action Nov. 21 at Davis & Elkins for a dual meet.
