The Mercyhurst Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams continue their season this Saturday, September 23rd, as they travel to Lock Haven, PA to compete in the Lock Haven Invitational. The first race is slated for 10:00 AM.
Despite falling to Gannon and Allegheny in their first race of the year, the Mercyhurst Women's team ran well. Maddy Mariani and Eleanor Chuzie both finished in the top 10 for the Lakers and the team looks to build on the momentum this weekend.
The Laker Men's team also put together some promising runs in their first meet of the year with Alec Bidwell finishing 2nd overall and Daniel Derby finishing 9th.
Heading into the Lock Haven invitational, the Women's team will square up against the second ranked team in the Atlantic Region, in Lock Haven. The Men's squad will also face a tough opponent, as the Lock Haven Men's squad came in as the third ranked team in the PSAC pre-season polls.
Head Coach Michael Williamson gave his thoughts on the upcoming race and expressed that "The Lock Haven invite this weekend will be a good preview race of the NCAA regional championship, so I am expecting some strong performances from our team leaders this weekend as they look to compete with some of the top individuals in the Atlantic Region."
