ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Wrestling team improved to 8-6 on the season with a win over Seton Hill. The Lakers posted two first period pinfalls pushing them to a 25-15 victory.
The Griffins scored first taking the 125 bout by decision.
Eric Bartos answered with three points for the Lakers in a hard fought 8-3 decision.
The Lakers took the next three bouts as well with
Jake Niffenegger and
Mike Zacur earning decisions while
Max Stedeford got a first period pin. Zacur took an early lead getting a takedown and four point near fall in the first period and never looked back taking the bout by a score of 10-6.
The 165 went to the Griffins making the team score 15-9 in favor of the Lakers. Sophomore
Dillon Walker and freshman
Chase Stein picked up two more decisions for Mercyhurst.
Luke McGonigal earned another first period pin for Mercyhurst at 197 while
Hunter Harnish fell to his opponent.
The Lakers are back in action tomorrow for senior day against Millersville.
