ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team swept past visiting Shepherd 7-0 on Sunday in PSAC action at the Westwood Racquet Club.
The went 3-0 in doubles action to pick up the doubles point for the match. David Akinpetide and Milan Jankovic scored a 6-0 win at first doubles while Unai Amilleta Gonzalez paired with Arseniy Skylarov for a 6-1 victory at nubmer two. The third pairing of Hristo Plasheski and Kiran Richards also won by a score of 6-1.
Plasheski tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory to open singles competition at fourth flight singles. Akinpetide made it 3-0 Lakers with 6-0, 6-2 victory at number two.
Jankovic clinched the match for Mercyhurst picking up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number three. Skylarov also picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at number five.
Gonzalez extended his singles winning streak to eight matches with his 6-0, 6-1 victory at number one singles. Richards closed out the match and finished the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number six.
The Lakers are now 4-4 overall and 3-0 in PSAC play. They return to action on April 9 when they travel to Millersville.
