#24 Women's Lacrosse Rallies Past Millersville, Advances To PSAC Semifinals

ERIE, Pa. -- The 24th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat Millersville, 7-5, in a PSAC Tournament semifinal on Tuesday at Tullio Field. The Lakers have won nine straight games. They are the three-seed in the tournament while Millersville was the No. 6.

KEY NUMBERS
  • Julia Rescott and Angelina Simon scored two goals apiece.
  • Brenna Fosco, Emma Hubert and Lacey Netti also had goals. Hubert leads the team with 60 goals and Netti leads the squad with 77 points.
  • Fosco also had two assists to finish with a three-point game.
  • Kira Kolb totaled nine groundballs and three draw controls. She cleared the 100-draw control plateau and now leads the team with 102. She also has a team-high 79 groundballs.
  • Winning goaltender Kaitlyn Lippert made 10 saves. She is now 9-1 as a starter.
  • For Millersville, Emily Jacobsen had two goals and Shannon Davis stopped nine shots in the cage.

GAME SUMMARY
  • Fosco opened the game's scoring before Millersville charged ahead with four consecutive scores to take a 4-1 hafltime lead.
  • Mercyhurst had a 5-0 run in the second half, going up 6-4. Rescott tied the game at 4-all with 11:32. Then, Simon had goals with 9:35 and 8:43 remaining.
  • Jacobsen's second goal helped the visiting Marauders (9-9, 7-5) pull within 6-5 before an insurance goal by Rescott with 6:06 remaining pushed the Laker lead back to two and served as the game's final goal.

NEXT UP
  • The Lakers (13-5, 9-3) will take on two-seed / 14th-ranked East Stroudsburg (13-4, 10-2) in the PSAC Tournament semifinals at host West Chester. The game will take place Friday at 4 p.m.
  • Top-seed / sixth-ranked WCU (15-2, 11-1) will meet five-seed Seton Hill (11-7, 8-4), which defeated four-seed Indiana (Pa.) in Tuesday's other quarterfinal.
