ERIE, Pa – The Mercyhurst softball team lost its last two games of the season 9-0 and 5-3 to Edinboro during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Sunday at the Mercyhurst Softball Field.
Edinboro 9, Mercyhurst 0 (5 inn)
Edinboro scored three runs in the both the first and second innings before adding one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth inning to win 9-0.
Taylor Fry and
Jamie Ward had hits for Mercyhurst.
Ellie Dougher stole a base.
Tori Pierucci was the losing pitcher for the Lakers. She pitched a little over one inning while striking out two batters and allowing four earned runs.
Laura Gregory pitched over three innings while striking out two batters and allowing three earned runs.
For Edinboro, Danna Heh, Lauren Gierlak and Shannon Gilbert had three runs each. Heh tallied three hits, Gierlak had two hits and single hits were earned by Olivia Jankowski, Brittany Allen, Jessica Little and Gilbert.
Carley Nasca was the winning pitcher for Edinboro. She pitched five innings while striking out one batter and walking one batters.
Edinboro 5, Mercyhurst 3 (7 inn)
Edinboro took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before adding one more in the third inning. Mercyhurst came back with three runs in the fourth inning, but Edinboro added one more tally in the fifth to end it 5-3 Edinboro.
Natalie Graff and
Emma LeGendre had two hits each while
Jenna Balducci,
Megan Minihane and Dougher picked up one hit.
Graff, LeGendre and Ward scored runs for the Lakers. LeGendre had the lone RBI.
Balducci and Ward both stole one base.
Pierucci pitched all seven innings while striking out four batters and allowing three earned runs.
For Edinboro, Heh and Gilbert had two hits each. Jankowski and Allen had one hit each. Gilbert and Jankowski both hit homers.
Gilbert scored two runs while Heh, Gierlak and Jankowski scored one run a piece.
Amanda Metz was the winning pitcher. She pitched seven innings while throwing three strike outs and allowing one earned run.
