ERIE, Pa. -- The 15th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team suffered a 12-8 loss to PSAC opponent Bloomsburg on Saturday at Tullio Field.
Angelina Simon had three goals while
Emma Hubert contributed two goals and two assists for the Lakers (3-2, 0-1).
Brenna Fosco,
Torie Sullivan and
Kiera Boettcher added one goal apiece.
Kira Kolb and
Kiera Boettcher had six and four draw controls, respectively.
Raelyn Tiberio made 12 saves for Mercyhurst.
Bloomsburg (4-1, 1-0) was led by Grace Kelleher, who totaled seven goals and one assist. Winning goalie Angela DiPasquale finished with 14 saves.
The host Lakers built an early 5-1 lead, getting two goals from Simon during that stretch, before the visitors outscored MU, 11-3, the rest of the way.
Bloomsburg closed the first half on a 4-0 run, including two goals by Kelleher.
After Simon completed her hat trick to begin the second half to give Mercyhurst a 6-5 edge, Keller rattled off a pair of scores to put the Huskies up, 7-6.
Hubert evened the tally at 7-7 with 20:57 remaining before a 5-0 run by Bloomsburg helped the visitors pull away to victory.
The Lakers will return to action on Tuesday when they visit Indiana (Pa.) for a PSAC game.
