ERIE, Pa. --
Emma Hubert scored eight goals to lead the 15th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team to a 15-3 victory over non-conference opponent Ursuline on Sunday at Tullio Field. The contest was halted with 4:19 remaining in the second half due to weather.
Julia Rescott added two goals and one assist while
Lacey Netti finished with one goal and six helpers for the Lakers (1-0).
Angelina Simon,
Paige Cocina,
Torie Sullivan and
Kiera Boettcher also had goals.
Jenna Hagen made two assists. Simon and
Gina Perna were credited with single assists.
Kira Kolb picked up six draw controls for MU and
Anna Kenyon caused two turnovers.
Goaltenders
Raelyn Tiberio and
Kaitlyn Lippert split time. Tiberio played the first half and made one save before Lippert stopped seven shots in the second half.
Julia Zackey scored twice for the visiting Arrows (0-1).
Mercyhurst jumped ahead with a 2-0 lead on goals by Rescott and Sullivan before Zackey answered for UC.
Then, the host Lakers took command with 12 consecutive tallies, including all of Hubert's eight.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 3, when it hosts 25th-ranked Tiffin at 1 p.m.
