LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team defeated the University of Toronto, 7-6, before falling, 19-3, to Fordham.
 
Mercyhurst 7, Toronto 6
Connor Schmitz and 
Matt Bachler each had two goals for Mercyhurst (7-1) . Schmitz also added two assists.
 
Alex Cappuccio, 
Alec Diaz and 
Philip Jenny scored one goal each, while Diaz also contributed two assists and three steals.
 
Single assists were credited to 
Ryan Mercando and 
Ryan Witoslawski.
 
Nash Green made six saves in net for Mercyhurst.
 
Euan Scoffield scored three goals, Marko Avdalovic recorded two goals and Alexander Hadzi-Manov tallied one goal for Toronto (0-1). Goaltender Andrei Velasevic made 12 saves and added two steals.
 
Fordham 19, Mercyhurst 3
Shaquille Mitchell, Cappuccio and Witoslawski each scored one goal. Witoslawski was also credited with three steals.
 
Daniel Alverez and 
Nebyat Mamo each contributed one assist.
 
Green saved three shots for the Lakers.
 
Magnus Sims and Jake Miller-Tolt scored four goals and Phillip Wang record three goals for Fordham (3-5).
 
Single goals were scored by Joseph Agabs, Gordon Rowland, August Weyandt, Cole Donnelly, Will Smoot, Ian Watson, Yuki Saito and George Maltby.
 
Goalie Patrick Coffey made 11 saves for Fordham.
 
Mercyhurst is back to action Sunday against La Salle at 8:00 a.m. and United States Naval Academy at 2:15 p.m.
