#19 Women's Lax Rolls Past Cross-Town Rival Gannon

ERIE, Pa. -- Kristin Anderson and Payton Cook scored four goals each while Taylor Izzo recorded nine assists as the 19th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team defeated cross-town rival Gannon, 19-6, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Tuesday.

Izzo added two goals to finish with an 11-point game. Anderson made an assist.

Also for the Lakers (6-3, 4-1), Grace Lawson scored three goals while Emma Hubert, Torie Sullivan and Brenna Fosco put in two goals apiece. Lacey Netti tallied four assists and Jenna Hagen dished two.

Defensively, Mercyhurst was led by Kira Kolb, who recorded five draw controls, three groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Raelyn Tiberio was the winning goalie with seven saves.

The Lakers opened the game with an 8-1 run and never looked back; Izzo made six of her assists during that opening stretch.

Erin Rotondo had three goals for the Golden Knights (3-4, 2-3). Goalie Erin Renwick stopped 11 shots.

The Lakers had more shots (36-23), groundballs (21-17) and draw controls (16-10) than the Knights.

Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday with a PSAC contest at Lock Haven.
