                     ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won twice Saturday, taking down Salem International, 19-6, and Gannon, 18-13, in a pair of matches at Gannon University. The Lakers wrapped up the regular season with a 14-10 record.
 
Against Gannon, Mercyhurst got out to a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. GU rallied in the second frame, tying the match at 8 heading into halftime. The Lakers came back with seven goals in the third and then held the Golden Knights to one goal in the fourth period, securing their second win over Gannon this season.
 
Alex Strong, 
Jack Howe, 
Dave Matulis, 
Shaquille Mitchell, and 
Jordan Hodur each recorded hat tricks. 
Joe Yamamoto added a pair of goals. 
Samuel Lopez put up a goal and three assists, while 
Joey Ryan, Howe, Matulis, and Yamamoto each dished out two helpers. 
Andrew Too-A-Foo tallied 12 saves in net, contributing two assists and a steal.
 
In the win over Salem, Mercyhurst scored eight first-quarter goals and rolled from there. Howe finished with three goals, as Mike Lawson, Yamamoto, Matulis, Lopez, and Strong each scored twice. Too-A-Foo posted 12 stops in goal.
 
The Lakers will head to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Championships next weekend. Princeton will host the event on November 7-9.Â
