Matulis earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors over the weekend as he led the Mercyhurst men's water polo team to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Championship by posting victories over Gannon and Salem International. In the first game, Matulis' fourth goal of the game, with 26 seconds left in regulation, gave the Lakers a nail-biting 13-12 win over Gannon. He added three goals and an assist in a 15-10 win over Salem International, finishing the tournament with seven goals and two assists to earn MVP honors.
