Makela helped the women's hockey team post a 1-0-1 record against Syracuse last weekend after a 34-day layoff for the team. Makela stopped 22-of-23 Syracuse shots in Friday's 1-1 overtime tie and then recorded a season-high 30 stops (on 32 shots) in the Lakers' come-from-behind 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon. She has started every game for the Lakers this season and is 17-4-3 with a 1.20 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
