Freshman Saoia Gomez de Segura went unbeaten in the PSAC Singles Championships over the weekend to capture the PSAC singles title. She became the first women's player from Mercyhurst to win since the program joined the conference in 2008. Of her five wins, four came against seeded opponents. She defeated third-seeded Kiefer Shaw of Cal, 9-7, to open play, and then blanked Clarion's Morgan Bettwy in the second round. In the quarters, she upset Lucie Rey of Cal and then pulled off her biggest upset by defeated reigning PSAC Player of the Year and top seed Tanya Timko of IUP in the semifinals. Gomez then blanked West Chester's Claire Uhle in the finals to capture the title.
