Popio had at least one hit in five of the Lakers' six games during the week. He batted .611, recording 11 hits in 18 at bats, with six of his hits going for extra bases (all doubles). He scored 11 runs and drove in 10 in the six games and led the Lakers in slugging percentage (.944) and in on-base percentage (.720). He reached base 18 times in 25 plate appearances during the week. His .611 average for the week upped his season average .427 to earn him the batting title in the PSAC West. In the sweep of IUP on Tuesday, Popio went 4-for-4 with two walks, four runs scored, and five RBI in game one and then went 1-for-3 with three more RBI in game two. He either scored a run or drove in a run in all six games.
