Sarjeant went 1-0-1 in a home-and-home series against Niagara over the weekend to help Mercyhurst clinch its first-ever AHA regular season championship. Sarjeant stopped 44-of-47 shots in Friday’s 3-3 overtime tie against the Purple Eagles and then turned aside 38-of-40 in Saturday’s 4-2 in Niagara Falls. The 44-save performance was his second consecutive 40-plus save contest, his second-highest save total in a game this season, and the fourth time this year he has stopped at least 40 shots. In 125 minutes of action over the weekend, Sarjeant allowed five goals on 87 shots for a 2.40 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. He remained unbeaten in conference play this season (14-0-4) and improved to 16-4-5 overall on the season.
