Making his first starts since December 29 at Ohio State, redshirt junior Jordan Tibbett stepped up in a huge way in place of injured Jimmy Sarjeant by stopping 69-of-72 shots in helping first-place Mercyhurst take three of a possible four points against second-place Bentley over the weekend. On Friday, Tibbett stopped 32-of-34 shots in a 2-2 tie with the Falcons and then stopped 37-of-38 shots in Saturday’s 4-1 victory. Entering the weekend, Tibbett had been 0-6 with a 6.16 goals against average but finished the weekend with a 1.44 goals against average and a .958 save percentage against the league’s best offense. His win on Saturday snapped a personal eight-game winless streak and was his first victory since a 4-1 win in the AHA Semifinals on March 22, 2013 against Connecticut.
