Sarjeant earned his first collegiate shutout on Friday night with a career-high 51 saves and then followed that up with a 36-save performance on Saturday to lead the Lakers to a weekend sweep at Holy Cross. Friday’s performance was one for the ages in program history – his 51 saves marked the most by a Laker goaltender in a shutout since the team moved to Division I in 1999-2000. It was the most saves in a game since Ryan Zapolski stopped 63 against Canisius in 2OT loss on March 13, 2010, was the most saves in a regular season game since March 17, 2007 (Matt Lundin stopped 51 in a 3-2 OT loss at RIT), and was the most saves in a non-overtime game since January 6, 2007 (Jordan Wakefield stopped 52 in a 3-1 loss against Air Force). He then stopped 36-of-38 in Saturday’s 4-2 victory to finish the weekend with 87 saves in 89 shots on goal (.978 save percentage). He improved to 11-0-1 in conference, lowering his league goals against average to 1.74 and upping his save percentage against AHA opponents to .950. He is 13-4-2 on the season – ninth-best winning percentage in the country.
