Wakefield was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra point attempts in the Lakers' 23-20 win at California. It was Mercyhurst's first-ever victory over the Vulcans in California. Wakefield booted a 22-yard field goal with 40 seconds left in regulation to break a 20-20 tie. He established two school records - most points by a kicker in a single-season (76) and most field goals made in a single-season (13). He made field goals of 24, 41, and the game-winner from 22 yards out. His 41-yarder was his longest of the season and the third-longest of his career.
