DETROIT, Mich. – Sophomore
Hillary Pattenden of the top-ranked Mercyhurst College women's hockey team has been named College Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, league officials announced on Monday.
Pattenden, a goaltender from Surrey, B.C., led the Lakers in a two-game sweep of conference rival Syracuse this past weekend at the Tennity Ice Pavilion. She turned aside 20 shots and allowed one power-play goal on nine chances in Friday's 8-1 victory. The next day Pattenden made 15 saves and held Syracuse to a 1-for-6 clip with the extra man as the Lakers won 4-3.
Pattenden and the Lakers return to action this weekend with a series against Niagara on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
