Pattenden Named CHA Defensive Player of the Week

DETROIT, Mich. – Sophomore Hillary Pattenden of the No. 1 / 1 Mercyhurst College women's hockey team has been named College Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.

Pattenden, a goaltender from Surrey, British Columbia, led the Lakers in back-to-back wins over Rensselaer this past weekend in Troy, N.Y. She allowed one goal on 56 shots as the Lakers won 1-0 and 5-1. In Friday's game, Pattenden stopped all 23 shots to record her second-career shutout, 1-0. She followed the performance with a 32-save outing in a 5-1 decision on Saturday. With the wins, she improved to 4-0 on the season and 28-3-0 at Mercyhurst.

Mercyhurst concludes its four-game road trip this weekend with a pair of games at Cornell, beginning on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m.
