CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.- Deven Alves of the #1 Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lakers' 17-5 win over #11 Chestnut Hill March 3.

Alves, a sophomore, scored four goals and dished out two assists in the victory Saturday. He was a force throughout the match, scoring twice in the first quarter, assisting on two second-quarter goals, and then adding a score in each of the final two periods.

He is the first Laker to win the honor in 2012. Hurst heads to Mercy Saturday, March 10, for a 1 p.m. face-off.
