Pattenden In Latest Issue Of Sports Illustrated

Senior goaltender Hillary Pattenden is featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated.
ERIE, Pa. - Hillary Pattenden, senior goaltender of the fifth-ranked Mercyhurst women's hockey team, appears in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. The Surrey, British Columbia native is featured in the Faces In The Crowd section of the magazine after becoming the NCAA's all-time winningest goaltender.

Faces in the Crowd has been published every week in Sports Illustrated since 1956. The January 16th issue, featuring Pattenden, first arrived in subscribers' mailboxes and hit newsstands on Wednesday, January 11. 

Pattenden earned her record-breaking 92nd career win on Wednesday, December 14 with a 9-0 victory over visiting Lindenwood, surpassing former Wisconsin standout and current United States Olympian, Jessie Vetter. Pattenden tied Vetter's record on Saturday, December 10 with a career-high 48 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory at fourth-ranked Boston College.

Pattenden currently sports a 13-4-1 overall record during the 2011-12 season and is 93-16-4 for her career.

Pattenden and the fifth-ranked Lakers (15-4-1, 1-0-1 CHA) will play a home-and-home series this Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14 against the Purple Eagles of Niagara University (7-9-5, 0-0-0 CHA). Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday night, before the teams reconvene at the Dwyer Arena in Niagara Falls on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Mercyhurst currently rides a 25-game unbeaten streak in conference play, with the last loss coming at the hands of Niagara on January 30, 2010.
