Kristine Grenier recorded hat tricks as Mercyhurst rolled to a 10-2 exhibition win over Wilfrid Laurier Saturday at the Ice Center. The contest marked the first of three successive exhibition tilts to begin the season.
Bram scored her first goal just 67 seconds into the game to jumpstart the attack. Freshman sister Shelby made it 2-0 at 13:46 as the Lakers outshot the Golden Hawks 14-5 in the opening 20 minutes. Senior goaltender

Mercyhurst stretched its lead to 5-0 in the second on a shorthanded lamplighter from sophomore winger Chrtistine Bestland (0:20), the second of the game by
Bailey Bram (11:36) and the first goal by Grenier (12:43) on a Mercyhurst power play. Wilfrid Laurier got on the board at 15:29 when Andrea Shapero beat junior goalie
Stephanie Ciampa, who played the middle period between the pipes. The Mercyhurst lead grew to 7-1 before the period ended when both Grenier (at 18:24) and junior Wayne State transfer
Gina Buquet (19:20) scored, the latter on another power play chance. Mercyhurst outshot the Golden Hawks 18-4 in the middle frame.

Amanda Makela played the final period for the Lakers and was touched for Wilfrid Laurier's final goal just 37 seconds into the period. The marker by Candice Styles came with the Lakers two skaters short. Mercyhurst scored the final three goals of the game. Grenier completed her hat trick at 6:43, Buquet notched her second of the game at 8:14 and Bram completed her trifecta at 10:55 with an unassisted score.
Mercyhurst outshot Wilfrid Laurier 46-18 for the game and finished 2 of 6 on the power play. The Golden Hawks were 1 of 5.

The Lakers will play a pair of exhibition games next weekend. Stoney Creek visits on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 4pm while the Toronto Aeros come to the Ice Center Sunday at 12 noon.
