Women's Basketball Set to Host Notre Dame College Friday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts Notre Dame College Friday, December 30, at 5:30 p.m. It marks the final non-conference game of the season for the Lakers.

Hurst enters the contest 4-5, but is 4-1 in its last five games. In their last outing, the Lakers won at home, beating West Virginia Wesleyan, 77-62, on December 14. Dana Banda led the team with 15 points on 6-9 shooting. Megan Hoffman added 11 points with five rebounds and four assists. She also grabbed three steals. Freshman Lindsay Stamp scored 14 points in 15 minutes and Nikki Frederickson contributed eight points and nine boards in the victory.
 
Notre Dame is 5-7 in 2011-12. It lost its most recent game, falling to Slippery Rock, 62-57 in overtime December 28. Danielle Ledrich led the team with 17 points.
 
Stamp leads the Lakers with 13.3 points per game this season. She leads all Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) freshmen in scoring. Hoffman is next with 9.6 points per contest, having hit a team-high 21 triples. Frederickson is adding 9.1 points a game and leads the team with 6.2 boards per. Banda leads the Lakers with four assists and 2.8 steals per game.
 
For NDC, freshman Martha Nagbe is scoring 13.3 points to lead the way. She is also averaging 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals a game. Ledrich is next with 10 points a game, including 23 made three-pointers this season. Junior Lauren Macer is scoring almost 11 points a contest, along with hitting 56.1 percent of her shots from the field.
 
Coach Deanna Richard's group is 3-0 at home this season. Hurst is on a six-game home winning streak dating back to the 2010-11 campaign.
 
Mercyhurst hosts Shippensburg and Cheyney January 6-7 in its final set of PSAC crossover meetings.
