Bram Sisters Earn Weekly Awards From College Hockey America

HAVERHILL, Mass. - Senior forward Bailey Bram and freshman forward, and younger sister, Shelby Bram, were both rewarded by the College Hockey America office on Monday afternoon for their performances against Lindenwood this past weekend. The Lakers defeated Lindenwood 7-0 on Friday night and then 14-1 on Saturday afternoon, as Mercyhurst has now won five games in a row to move to 6-2 on the season.

Bailey, who was named the CHA Player of the Week, factored in on nine of Mercyhurst's 21 goals over the weekend as the Lakers posted a pair of lopsided victories over Lindenwood. The senior from Ste. Anne, Manitoba had a goal and an assist in Friday's victory and then posted a career-high seven points (two goals and five assists) in Saturday's victory. Bram now leads the team in scoring with nine goals and six assists, after finishing the weekend with three goals and six assists against Lindenwood.

It was the second player of the week award for Bailey this season. She also earned the award after her performance at Providence two weeks ago.

Shelby garnered her first CHA Rookie of the Week honor, by scoring the first goals of her collegiate career over the weekend. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal on Friday in the Lakers' 7-0 win, and then posted her first career multi-goal game, and multi-point game, on Saturday in the 14-1 victory. Bram scored a goal in each of the second and third periods. She leads Mercyhurst freshmen in goals with three, and is second among Mercyhurst freshmen with five points (three goals, two assists).

The Lakers will be home on Wednesday, November 2, for an exhibition game against the Brampton Thunder. It marks the return of 2010 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner, Vicki Bendus, who was drafted by Brampton fourth overall in the Canadian Women's Hockey League draft. The Brampton roster features of 11 members of the Canadian and U.S. National Teams, and also features a couple of other former Lakers, Ashley Pendleton and Natalie Payne. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
