Women's Hockey Remains Eighth In USCHO.com Poll

The Mercyhurst women's hockey team remained 8th in the country according to the latest USCHO.com poll.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After posting a pair of lopsided victories at Lindenwood University this past weekend, the Mercyhurst women's hockey team remained the #8 in the country according to the latest USCHO.com Division I women's hockey poll announced late Monday afternoon.

The Lakers improved to 6-2 on the season and have now won five games in a row after defeating the Lions 7-0 on Friday night and 14-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Mercyhurst gained six more points in the rankings from last week's poll and received 41 points this week, six points ahead of Northeastern, and comfortably ahead of Bemidji State and Harvard, who tied for the 10th spot in the poll.

Wisconsin, won two more games this weekend to improve to 9-1, remaining the top-ranked team in the country. The Badgers actually lost a first-place vote according to this week's poll, as Cornell, who moved up to #2, had the other first-place vote.

The Lakers will be home on Wednesday, November 2, for an exhibition game against the Brampton Thunder. It marks the return of 2010 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner, Vicki Bendus, who was drafted by Brampton fourth overall in the Canadian Women's Hockey League draft. The Brampton roster features of 11 members of the Canadian and U.S. National Teams, and also features a couple of other former Lakers, Ashley Pendleton and Natalie Payne. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
