No. 1 Lakers Set for CHA Tournament

DETROIT, Mich. – The top-ranked Mercyhurst College women's hockey team kicks off postseason play this weekend at the 2010 College Hockey America Tournament, hosted by Wayne State University at the City Sports Arena in Detroit, Mich.

The Lakers, who enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed by virtue of winning the CHA Regular Season Title, will play either No. 5 Robert Morris or No. 4 Wayne State in the first semifinal game on Friday, March 5 at 4 p.m. No. 3 Syracuse will take on No. 2 Niagara later that evening at 7 p.m. The winners of each game will then advance to the CHA Championship Game on Saturday, March 6 at 5 p.m.

Mercyhurst has never lost in the history of the championship tournament, winning seven-straight titles since the conference was started in 2002-03. Additionally, the Lakers have won the title in convincing fashion, outscoring their opponents, 26-5, in the championship game.

Fans who can't attend this year's tournament can follow all the action live online courtesy of Wayne State University. WSU will broadcast all the games on Teamline Internet Radio and have live stats streamed through its website. Please visit the CHA Tournament page at www.wsuathletics.com for the appropriate links.
