DETROIT, Mich. – Sophomore
Jess Jones of the top-ranked Mercyhurst College women's hockey team has been named College Hockey America Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
Jones, a forward from Picton, Ontario, recorded four points on two goals and two assists in a sweep of visiting Syracuse. In Friday's game, she scored the first goal of the contest, and then assisted on the next Laker lamplighters including the game-winner. Jones scored the game-winning goal on Saturday, which snapped a 1-1 tie. She finished the weekend series with 14 shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus rating.
Mercyhurst opens up play at the 2010 College Hockey America Tournament on Friday, March 5 against either Wayne State or Robert Morris at 4 p.m. at City Sports Arena.
