ERIE, Pa. – Junior Vicki Bendus of the No. 1-ranked Mercyhurst College women's hockey team has been named College Hockey America Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

Bendus, a forward from Wasaga Beach, Ontario, powered the Lakers in back-to-back wins over Bemidji State last weekend at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. She led all goal scorers with three goals and also added an assist for four points. She was an empty-net goal shy of scoring in every situation, marking an even-strength, a power-play and a short-handed score. Her man-down score also proved to be the game-winner in a 4-1 victory on Friday.

The Lakers, ranked No. 1 in both polls this week, return to action next weekend with a two-game series at Rensselaer, beginning on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
