WINTHROP, Mass. – Three Mercyhurst women's ice hockey players were named College Hockey America Student-Athletes of the Year while 20 players were named to the All-Academic Team.
This year throughout the CHA there was a record setting 116 student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team, with 13 student-athletes being named as Student-Athletes of the Year
Alexa Vasko earned the Student-Athlete of the Year award for the second time in her career while
K.K. Thiessen and
Rachel Marmen earned it for the first time.
To qualify for Student-Athletes of the Year, a student-athlete must earn a 4/0 grade point average.
Along with Vasko, Thiessen and Marmen on the All-Academic Team are;

Jenna Silvonen and
Alexandria Weiss.
To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must post a 3.0 GPA or better in the semesters in which she was competing.
Robert Morris led the way with 22 All-Academic Team members, Syracuse was next with 21, Mercyhurst had 20, RIT had 19, Lindenwood tallied 18 and Penn State had 16 members.
