MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 blanking of Millersville University at the McComsey Tennis Courts in Millersville, Pa. The Lakers improved to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC while the Marauders dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in conference action.

Mercyhurst welcomed back freshman Conor McCooey to the lineup and the team responded with three doubles victories and six straight-set wins in singles action. McCooey teamed up with sophomore Travis Beck at #1 doubles for an 8-4 victory over Millersville's #1 duo of Jody Sambrick and Kevin Tran.

The freshman took over his spot at #4 singles and cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over the Marauders' Dylan Ryan. All five other Lakers' singles players - Beck, Robert Rizea, Daniel Gimenez, Eric Drusko, and Ross Molinaro IV - also had easy victories with only Beck losing more than two games (6-1, 6-3).

McCooey hadn't played since an 8-1 win over West Liberty on February 23.

The Lakers will be back in action on Sunday morning when they visit West Chester. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
