Lakers Take Two at Penn State Beherend

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst ends the Penn State Behrend Invitational with two wins against Queens (N.Y.) and Carthage.

In the first game against Queens (N.Y.), the Lakers won the first three periods of play and lost the fourth but had enough to win 7-5. Chrissy Genian and Christine Somera scored two goals a piece while Jacqueline Phillips, Christie Haibach, and Carrie Willison each added a goal. Willison assisted twice and Genian, Haibach, and Somera assist once each.

Against Carthage in game two, the Lakers only allowed two goals while scoring 11 themselves. Willison had four goals, while Genian, Rhonda Marable, and Somera added two, and Haibach one. Willison had three assists, Marable two, Genian, Phillips, Renee Sander, Somera, and Sam Shehan one each.

In goal, Gina Mieras allowed only two goals while saving eight in five periods of play. Cathi Korenich allowed five while stopping six in three periods.

Mercyhurst is now 4-5 on the year and faces cross-town rivals Gannon on Friday, March 16th in a non-conference match in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
