In the 2008-2009 season, the Laker Women’s Hockey team held a 31-6-0 record and a 16-0-0 record in conference play after defeating Wayne State in the College Hockey America (CHA) Conference Championship. In the regular season, the Lakers had four wins over nationally ranked opponents and one more in the NCAA Frozen Four, as they played against number two Minnesota to earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team also competed in the National Championship for women’s hockey.

The women’s team boasted three of the top five goal-scorers, six in the top 11 for goals, and six in the top 10 for assists in the CHA that season. Hillary Pattenden also held the record for the best goals-against average while also having the best winning percentage in the CHA.

The Lakers were the best team in the CHA in scoring as they averaged 4.76 goals per game while allowing just 1.89 which was also tops in the conference.
