The 1994-95 Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight while setting a school record for wins in a season. The Lakers finished with a 24-6 record that year, hosted the NCAA Eastern Regional for the first time in program history and then won that same Regional Tournament with victories over Shippensburg and Saint Rose.
The Lakers advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals and competed in Fargo, North Dakota. Mercyhurst lost to Stonehill College by two points and was eliminated from the tournament.
Teresa Szumigala was a Kodak All-American and ECAC South Player of the Year for the Lakers that season. To this day, the 94-95 Lakers are one of only two Mercyhurst women's basketball teams to record at least 20 wins in a season within the 42-year history of the program.
