Vicki Bendus was a member of the Women's Hockey team from 2007-2010. In her time as a Laker, she racked up 121 assists, 190 points, 21 power-play goals, 69 goals and 12 game-winning goals, all marks that rank among the top 10 in Mercyhurst history. She was also a member of the Mercyhurst women’s golf team, helping lead them to the 2009-2010 National Final.
Vicki was awarded several prestigious awards for her performance in the 2009-2010 season including the Patty Kazmeier Award Winner (NCAA Player of the Year), CHA Player of the Year, Elite 88 Academic Award, First-Team All American, CHA Scoring Champion, and CoSIDA Academic All-American. She was also two-time College Hockey America first-team selection.
A member of the Canadian Women’s National Team from 2010 to 2013, Vicki won a total of four gold medals, one at the Women’s MLP Cup, one at the IIHF World Women’s Championships, and two at the Women’s Four Nations Cup in 2010 and 2013.
After graduating from Mercyhurst with her degree in Biology in 2010, Vicki was drafted fourth overall in the 2011 CWHL draft to the Brampton Thunder. She played 47 games in two seasons, tallying 25 goals with 20 assists.
Vicki earned her Master’s from Brock University, where she was named the lead sports performance coach in 2016 and has kept that title to this day. In the same year, Vicki took over the strength and conditioning responsibilities for Hockey Canada’s under-18 team. She is also the Lead Sports Performance Coach at Ridley College.
