As a senior, Cutshall posted one of the best individual seasons in program history and helped guide the Lakers to a GLIAC Championship in 1997. In that year, he recorded three Laker single-season bests that still stand today, including home runs, RBIs, and total bases. For his efforts, Cutshall was rewarded as the 1997 GLIAC Player of the Year and earned an All-America selection at shortstop, one of only seven Mercyhurst baseball players to receive that honor.
Cutshall and his four-year class own the program’s best winning percentage at .817, recording an overall mark of 138 wins and 31 losses while advancing to the NCAA Regional Tournament all four years. For his career, he ranks in the top 10 in eight different single-season categories and ranks in the top 10 of every career category where he holds the all-time records for hits, home runs, RBIs, and runs.
To date, Cutshall still ranks among GLIAC single-season leaders at third in home runs (16) and RBIs (72) while his .389 batting average is eighth all-time in conference history.
Following his career at Mercyhurst, Cutshall was drafted in the 17th round by the Houston Astros. He played three seasons in the minors, one with the Auburn DoubleDays of the New-York Penn League and two in the Midwest League with the Quad City River Bandits and the Michigan Battle Cats.
