Josh Shields was a member of the Mercyhurst Wrestling program from 2007-11 and one of the nation's best wrestlers during his career. Shields was the NCAA Division II National Champion at the 165-pound weight class in 2009. He was also an All-American in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Shields was a Super Region One champion and NCAA finalist in 2009 and 2010. He was a regional finalist in 2008. Shields was a NWCA All-Academic First Team member in 2008-11. He compiled a 106-22 career record, good for the second-highest winning percentage in program history (.828). He competed in two different weight classes at Nationals: 174 in 2008 and 165 in 2009 and 2010.
