David Lough was a dual sport athlete at Mercyhurst, as a member of the football and baseball teams from 2004 to 2008.
He was a two-time all-conference baseball player and earned All-American honors during his junior season. During his four-year career, David hit .383 with 41 doubles, 10 triples, and 16 home runs. David graduated from Mercyhurst with his degree in Sports Business Management.
After his All-American season, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 11th round of the amateur draft. He spent five years in the major league with time spent in Kansas City, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.
David finished his MLB career with 342 games played and 13 home runs on a .254 batting average. He stole 27 bases and finished 8th in the 2013 Rookie of the Year voting. That season he posted his best average of .286 and recorded a single-season high of five home runs.
David began his own business in 2015, called Warehouse Training and Performance. He spent 2018-2021 working as an operations manager for Fully Loaded Chew, a tobacco-free chew.
