Dario Cipriani

Dario Cipriani was one of the ground breakers for the Men's Golf program at Mercyhurst. He was a four-year letter winner and three-year co-captain from 1970 to 1974. He had the best average on the team in three of his four years. He finished tied for fourth in the NAIA District 18 playoffs in 1971.

While at Mercyhurst, he won the Club Championship at the Erie Golf Club in 1970. In his spare time at the college, Cipriani also served as the Sports Editor of the Merciad, the college's student newspaper. He graduated from Mercyhurst in 1974 with a degree in business.

His post-college golf resume is very impressive. Cipriani is a two-time Erie District Golf Association Amateur Champion (1984, 1987), a three-time Club Champion at the Lake View Country Club (1986, 1987, 1992), runner-up in the Erie District Golf Association Amateur Championship in 1991, a three-time runner-up in the Erie District Golf Association Match Play Championship (1985, 1991, 1995), a participant in the 1990 U.S. Amateur at the Cherry Hills Country Club, a participant in the 1989 U.S. Mid Amateur Championship at the Crooked Stick Country Club, a participant in the 1988 Mid Amateur Championship at the Prairie Dunes Country Club, and a participant in the 1981 U.S. Amateur Championship at the Olympic Club. Cipriani presently owns the course record of 65 at the Lake View Country Club and co-holds the competitive course record at the Gospel Hill Golf Club, also a 65.

He began an insurance practice upon graduation from Mercyhurst and is currently a partner at Historic Square Agency. He is a member of the President's Associates at Mercyhurst and is both a past president of the college's National Alumni Association and an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees. Cipriani is married to the former Donna Sokolowski. They have one daughter, Kristen Michelle. The family resides in Erie.
