Before coming to Erie, Ben was named the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic League Pitcher of the Year in his senior season, bolstering an ERA of 0.42 for the best in Blackhawk history. A member of the Mercyhurst baseball team, Rawding pitched for the Lakers from 2010 to 2013 as the team’s ace. Ben inked his name to the conference history books during his time on the mound and he holds the PSAC record for consecutive decisions with a win with 19 in a row.

?He began his career with a bang, being named to the PSAC West Second Team and the conference’s Freshman of the Year and he never looked back from there with three more all-conference teams to his ledger. Rawding pitched his way to a record of 5-4 in that season with an ERA of 3.22. He followed that up with a sophomore campaign in which he lead the Lakers in innings pitched, strikeouts, and ERA while claiming his second PSAC West Secon Team selection.

?Ben pitched a total of 295.2 innings in his career, giving up only 88 runs for an era of 2.68, having three seasons of an era of 2.8 or lower. He added 288 strikeouts to his ledger as well with 70 or more in three straight seasons and a career-high of 86 in his final season. Rawding also finished with 30 wins and 20 complete games, helping him be named to five all-region and two all-american teams while being honored as the PSAS West, ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic Region, and ECAS Division II Pitcher of the Year in 2012.
