BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team fell short in its quest for the program's first-ever conference championship after it suffered a 5-1 loss to defending PSAC Champion, Edinboro University, on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers fell to 13-6 on the season while the Fighting Scots improved to 15-6.
Edinboro swept all three doubles matches and then won the opening singles match when Vitor Albanese defeated freshman
Nenad Terzic in straight sets at #1.
Mercyhurst picked up its only victory of the afternoon at #6 when sophomore
Ross Molinaro IV took care of Edinboro's Anmol Sandhu, 6-1, 6-2. However, things ended when Matias Aignasse defeated Mercyhurst's semifinal hero, junior
Travis Beck, in straight sets at #2.
The Lakers will now wait to see if their season will continue in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament. The selection show takes place on Tuesday, April 28 at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
