INDIANA, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University women's tennis team, seeded third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division, suffered a 5-0 loss in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament on Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers dropped to 12-4 on the season and now will wait to see if they claim a berth in the NCAA Division II women's tennis tournament.
The Crimson Hawks swept all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead and then the match came to an end after freshman
Adrianna Jeffress suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss to IUP's Jarka Petercakova at #2 and freshman
Adina Spahalic lost to Luise Von Agris, 6-2, 6-3.
IUP advances to the PSAC semifinals on Friday against West Chester.
Mercyhurst is ranked third in the Atlantic Region according to the latest regional rankings. The selection show takes place on Tuesday, April 28 at 8:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.
