ERIE, Pa.- Former Mercyhurst men's basketball student-athlete Terry Smith is in his sixth season playing professionally in Europe. The 2008 Mercyhurst graduate averaged 15.2 points per game for SK Cherkasy Monkeys this season.

In 16 games with Cherkasy, Smith put up 15.2 points, 3.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. Prior to that, Smith played for Rilski in the Bulgarian League. He led the team in scoring with 17.2 points in 36 games. Smith helped Rilski advance to the Bulgarian Cup Semifinals on his way to earning Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Second Team honors.

Smith played for BBC Monthey in the Swiss League for the 2011-12 campaign. In 34 games, he posted 16.2 points, 3.0 boards, and 2.8 assists a game. Monthey qualified for the Cup Final as Smith was named Eurobasket.com All-Swiss LNA First Team and All-Imports Team.

In his four-year career at Mercyhurst, Smith scored 1,384 points, good for sixth on the Lakers' all-time scoring list. He holds the school record with 213 made three-pointers. Smith is also 10
th in assists with 277 and fourth in steals with 197 in 105 contests.

The native of Syracuse, New York, has the Mercyhurst record for points in a half (29) and three-pointers in a game (9). Smith's 91 treys in the 2007-08 season are also a Laker record. As sophomore, Smith was named All-GLIAC South Second Team. He earned All-GLIAC South First Team and All-GLIAC South Defensive Team honors as a senior.
