ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team held its annual year-end cookout on Saturday, May 11, in the Carolyn Hermann Student Union. The program honored the 2013 team, including graduating seniors
Alisha Catalino,
Kayla Minner, and
Brittany Tucker.
Minner was named the team's Offensive MVP. She was chosen All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team after putting up 49 goals and 24 assists. She also collected 30 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers.
Anna LeGrett earned the Midfield MVP award. She was an All-PSAC Third Team selection, posting 27 goals and 31 assists. She recorded a team-high 12 caused turnovers as well.
Erica Albornoz won the Defensive MVP honor. She started all 18 games, compiling 18 ground balls and causing eight turnovers.
The team's Rookie of the Year pick was
Olivia Keirn. The freshman totaled 12 goals in 15 matches. Her sister, Ally, won the same award after the 2009 season.
Tucker took home the Player's Choice award. She appeared in 17 contests, scoring four goals and dishing out an assist.
The Most Improved Player selection was
Kyla Keefe. The sophomore played in 16 games, scoring five goals. She earned 16 draw controls as well.
Coach Cecil Pilson also recognized volunteer assistant coach Courtney Olevnik for her two years on the Lakers' staff. She is graduating from Mercyhurst University with a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership.
