PERRY, N.Y.- Andrew Wagner of the #1 Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team has been named to the 2013 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American First Team. Brian Scheetz was selected to the Second Team and Zac Reid earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Wagner, a junior from Rochester, New York, has been the Lakers' top defenseman this season. He recorded 25 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers while defending the opposition's top attackman each week. Mercyhurst allowed 6.81 goals per game in the regular season-fourth-fewest in Division II. It has held 16 of its 18 opponents under their season scoring average.

Scheetz took Second Team honors after posting a team-high 72 points this year. He has dished out 46 assists and collected 36 ground balls. The Canandaigua, New York, native has three seven-point outings this season, including a six-assist performance against #2 Limestone in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals. The senior is the school's career points leader with 233 heading into his final match on May 26.

Reid, a senior, leads the Laker midfield unit with 29 goals and 14 assists. The St. Catharines, Ontario, native has been a big-game player in 2013, saving his two biggest performances for two of the most important games of the year. At #5 LIU-Post April 13, Reid put up four goals and two assists, including the game-winner with 1:51 remaining in the fourth quarter. On May 18 against #2 Limestone, he scored a career-high seven goals, tying an NCAA Tournament Semifinal record.

Wagner was named USILA All-American First Team in 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2011. Scheetz was a 2012 USILA All-American and a 2011 Honorable Mention choice.

Mercyhurst has now had 13 USILA All-American First Team selections in its program history. This is the 10th straight year the Lakers have been represented on the All-American squad.

Mercyhurst is 18-0 and will play in its third NCAA Championship on Sunday, May 26, against #3 Le Moyne. The Lakers are looking to become the first undefeated national champion since 2006, when Le Moyne achieved the feat.
