INDIANA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University women's tennis team began postseason play in less-than-grand fashion, losing in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference Tournament 5-1 to the hosting #44 Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks. The loss dropped the Lakers' overall record to 14-4.
The duo of
Caroline Bristol and
Sarah Baich were the only ones to salvage a win for Mercyhurst, winning the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 over Katie Eaton and Erika Schnaas. The Crimson Hawks would go on to take the third, fifth, and sixth singles matches and end up taking the match, locking up a spot in the PSAC Tournament's Semifinals.
The Lakers will await to see whether they will qualify for the NCAA D-II National Tournament.
